The show that catches up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad returns for a new series. Danni Menzies revisits Marie and Chris at their seaside holiday home in Manilva, southern Spain, that they bought back in 2019. With its cobbled streets and whitewashed houses, Manilva's traditional charm stole Chris and Marie's hearts, and so did the properties Danni showed them. Like your neighbourhood postie, Danni kept delivering turnkey treats until they settled on a former hotel that had been turned into apartments. Their cheeky offer of £115k was accepted, nicely under their £130k budget. Now, Danni's back with Chris and Marie to find that they are loving the lifestyle and have transformed the place. They show off their new kitchen by cooking Danni a veggie paella, before they all enjoy a day trip to nearby Gibraltar. Meanwhile, Ben Hillman meets up with photographer John in his idyllic village house in Skopelos in Greece, which he proudly now calls home. With its timeless charm, Skopelos is one of the greenest islands in the Aegean Sea due to more than 50 natural springs. For his budget of £120k, John - who doesn't drive - needed a place close to amenities. And while a few places didn't get him revved up, the upside-down townhouse with a plaque outside reading 'John's House' was picture perfect. Four years on, Ben takes a look around John's newly decorated digs, before John turns the tables and takes Ben for a photoshoot.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. In Torrevieja, Jean Johansson revisits brothers Peter and David, who bought their perfect place back in 2020. Former fishing and salt mining village Torrevieja is one of the most lively and popular resorts on the Costa Blanca. For their budget of £100k, Peter and David needed lots of outdoor space, a communal pool, and to be near to amenities. After seeing a few apartments with small solariums that cast a shadow over their dream place, the brothers put in a cheeky offer on an over-budget bungalow... and got it! Three years on, Jean catches up with them to see what they've done to the place and discovers what a lick of paint can do. They even crack out the paint and brushes for her to get stuck in, before they go for a bike ride down the promenade. Meanwhile, Jasmine Harman catches up with retired clergyman Father Ken, who left the UK for Larnaca in sunny Cyprus in 2021. Wonderfully positioned around a bay, Larnaca is famous for its long sweeping beaches and crystal-clear water. And the city itself has retained a lot of its traditional Cypriot charm with its almost 400-year-old fort. Ken's search didn't get off to the best of starts, but when Jasmine showed him a peaceful and welcoming apartment, he took a leap of faith and got it for just over his £80k budget. Now, Jasmine's back to see all the work Ken has done to the place, before being introduced to his visiting family, and taking a look round the church where he volunteers.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Laura Hamilton catches up with Gilly and Jane at their holiday home in the Dordogne that they bought back in 2016. Known as the land of a thousand chateaux, the Dordogne boasts hundreds of vineyards and charming traditional towns and villages, enlivened with no fewer than 30 festivals a year. Armed with £100k, Gilly and Jane's search got off to a slow start, but they were eventually blown away by the blue shutters they craved on a traditional stone cottage. Seven years on, Laura's back to see what they've done to the place, before they all go on a brocante treasure hunt! Meanwhile, Leah Charles-King returns to Islantilla in southern Spain, to see how Steve and Carrie are getting on at the sunny home that they bought in 2021. Home to a stunning white sand beach and surrounded by natural beauty, there's also plenty to do in Islantilla, and the town itself is steeped in local culture and history, with relics from its Moorish and Roman past. As Carrie and Steve's search got underway, Carrie struggled to find 'the feeling' she was after, until they saw an over-budget townhouse with gorgeous kerb appeal. Kicking everything else to the kerb, their budget-busting offer was accepted... eventually! Now, Leah's back with Carrie, while Steve attends commitments at home, to see how they've made it a true home-from-home, before they take in the local sights on a boat trip.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Lee Juggurnauth catches up with Doreen and Tommy to see how having a bolthole in the Costa Almería sunshine is helping Tommy's recovery from a serious accident. With its 130 miles of beautiful coastline, lively beach resorts and pretty whitewashed towns, the Costa Almería was the perfect place for Doreen and Tommy to embark on their new lives. When they met Scarlette Douglas back in 2017, the couple had different opinions on what they wanted for their £55k budget. Tommy was set on a cave house, while Doreen wanted an apartment. When their first option - a cave house - blew them away, Scarlette thought she had a rock-solid contender. But an apartment with roof terrace and sea views stole both their hearts. Now, Lee's back to see what they've been up to and how they've transformed their little piece of paradise, before they enjoy a BBQ on their terrace and take a relaxing stroll down the beach. Meanwhile, Danni Menzies heads to Portugal to catch up with Janet and Colin, who made the Algarve their permanent home in 2020. With a laid-back lifestyle, protected area of coastline and unspoilt islands that are home to a unique variety of wildlife, the Algarve was the perfect place for Janet, Colin and their beloved dog. With a few front runners in the mix for their £400k budget, they took a few days to think about their options and finally put in an offer on their favourite villa. Now, Danni's back to see what changes they've made and how they're settling into their new life, before they take Danni to one of their favourite spots on the coast.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Jasmine Harman revisits Janice and Steven who made the permanent move to Estepona on the Costa del Sol back in 2017. With its traditional Andalucian charm, cosmopolitan Estepona boasts a lovely promenade, 13 miles of beaches and oodles of amenities. Janice and Steven's search got off to a great start with a firm first option, then toppled by a townhouse and a third property that had Janice reaching for her chequebook as they got their dream place within their £150k budget. Now, Jasmine returns to see what changes they've made and how retirement in Spain is treating them, and to enjoy a spot of bowling at their local club. Meanwhile, Sara Damergi catches up with Suzi and Andrew at their barn in Charente that they snapped up in 2021. Named after the river that runs through it, the Charente region offers peace, quiet and beautiful countryside in abundance, alongside quintessentially French towns and villages with quaint shops. After stumbling at the first hurdle, Suzi and Andrew took to a house with a veg patch. But that wasn't a patch on what was to come... a beautifully converted barn that won them over. After their cheeky offer was rejected, and a couple of days of negotiating a new offer, they eventually sealed the deal, within their £310k budget. Now, Sara's back to see how Suzi and Andrew are getting on and what changes they've made, before lending a hand around the grounds and taking a bike ride on an abandoned railway line.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Danni Menzies catches up with Jackie, who bought a holiday apartment in Almoradí on the Costa Blanca back in 2017. With lots of little shops, bars and restaurants, and within reach of the coastal path connecting it to lively tourist towns, it was the ideal place for Jackie to find a beautiful bolthole for her budget of £50k. From a bungalow that was 'just perfect' to an apartment that impressed inside, Jackie was spoilt for choice. But the place that really made a splash was an apartment with a pool and a roof terrace. Jackie didn't even need a night to sleep on it and bagged her below-budget bolthole before the sun had even set! Now, Danni's back to see how Jackie's modernised the place and snazzed up the roof terrace, before they have a BBQ and enjoy a boat ride. Meanwhile, Sara Damergi revisits Jules and Gaynor to see how they're getting on with their farmstead and alpacas in Charente in France. Famed for producing veg, cheese and the grapes used for cognac, Charente is the one of France's most rural and agricultural areas, brimming with quaint shops and bakeries. Back in 2021, Jules and Gaynor were after a place with a lot of land for their herd of alpacas and a gîte for their £300k budget. Sara wowed them from the off with a detached stone house, but it was a farmhouse with 11 acres that had them crying gîte alors! With their below-budget offer of £260k accepted on this turnkey treat, it wasn't long before they were alpac-king their bags and moving in. Now, Sara's back to see their super-cosy home and gorgeous gîte and tries her hand at preparing alpaca fleece, before they all head to Jules and Gaynor's favourite town to sample some local artisan chocolates.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Laura Hamilton catches up with Jenn and Elliot at their Cretan holiday home that they bought back in 2020. Greece's mouthwatering food, rich history and crystal-clear turquoise waters make it a dreamy destination, and Almyrida, near Chania, on Crete, offers all that and more. This former fishing village is now a popular resort with a stunning beach and loads of tavernas. Jenn and Elliot's property search started swimmingly with an amazing apartment, followed by two good ones and a place above a restaurant that was definitely to their taste. But it was that first apartment that took their fancy. Laura's back to see how they're getting on and what changes they've made, before they take to the turquoise waters for a spot of snorkelling. Meanwhile, Danni Menzies is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada with Kath and Charlotte to see how they've settled into their holiday home in Nigüelas that they snapped up in 2018. Boasting a privileged position between the stunning historical city of Granada and the beautiful Costa Tropical, Nigüelas offered everything that Kath and Charlotte were after. And with their budget of £120k, Danni hit the sweet spot with a gorgeous townhouse with an orange tree and a roof terrace that took their breath away. Now, Danni's back to find that they've transformed the place and added a stunning nook, looking out onto the orange tree. Danni gets the chance to freshly squeeze some juice, before they all take to the nearby ski slopes!
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Laura Hamilton catches up with Steph and Gordon, who bought their dream holiday home near Torrevieja in 2021. While Torrevieja is popular due to its many bars, restaurants and holiday activities, nearby Benijófar offers a more relaxed and authentic Spanish village atmosphere. Its pretty squares and traditional architecture create a charming ambience, which captivated Steph and Gordon. Their property search got off to a great start, and after their requirements changed mid-search it was fourth time lucky when a traditional townhouse stole their hearts. Now, Laura's back to find out what they've done to their dream place in the sun and what their plans are for the future, before they all make some homemade sangria and Laura's put through her paces by their personal trainer! Meanwhile, Jean Johansson catches up with Chris and Sue at their rural French cottage in Limousin that they bought in 2020. Offering a slower pace of life and a strong connection to nature, Limousin is a perfect place to unwind and live the good life, and also boasts hundreds of speciality cheeses thanks to the lush, green landscape. Chris and Sue's search couldn't have gone better and they loved every single property, from blue shutters and a quaint cottage, to a country house with a barn that blew the blue shutters out of the water. But it was a renovated stone cottage that sealed the deal for the couple. Now, Jean's back to see what they've done to their dream place and finds them still beaming with joy. Chris and Sue get Jean earning her keep before they take her for a spot of pétanque and a picnic.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Ben Hillman catches up with keen runners Eileen and Richard in Oroklini, on Cyprus, at their dream holiday home that they bought in 2019. Nestled in the bay of Larnaca and home to some of the best weather in the Med, Oroklini is famous for its long sweeping beaches and crystal-clear waters. The village itself has retained its traditional Cypriot charm, and, surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque landscape, it was the perfect place for Eileen and Richard. Ben found a front runner early on with an apartment in the village, and then had the uphill task of beating the 'unbeatable'. A village house, a modern apartment and finally a village penthouse couldn't quite overtake the apartment, so Eileen and Richard made an offer on it. But after two rejected offers, they made an unexpected U-turn, and decided buy the last property instead! Now, Ben's back to see how they're getting on and finds out that their gamble has paid off, as they bask in penthouse perfection. Ben's given a run for his money as he joins Eileen and Richard for a jog, before they take him for a drink at their favourite local. Meanwhile, Danni Menzies revisits golf enthusiast Peggy and her mum Coral, who bought an apartment on the Costa del Sol in 2019... but things aren't quite as they seem! The first property Danni showed Peggy was more bogie than birdie, and while the next two apartments impressed, it was La Duquesa's golf resort apartment with two terraces that was up to par and stole Peggy's heart. With her first few offers rejected, she left a fourth and final offer on the table that the vendor accepted, just as Peggy and her mum were heading back home. Now, Danni's back, but not on the Costa del Sol! So, what did happen next? Three hundred miles away in Murcia, Danni finds out how Peggy's original apartment fell through, and her plans changed. Danni checks out her new place, before they head to the coast for some sun, sea and sand.
The new series continues, as we catch up with house-hunters who bought their perfect place abroad. Laura Hamilton catches up with Janice on Spain's Costa Cálida, at her perfect place in the sun that she bought in 2014. Home to Europe's largest saline lagoon, the Costa Cálida is famous for its warm tranquil waters and is a golfer's paradise. The first apartment that Janice saw was almost perfect, but it was a semi-detached villa that wowed her, and she couldn't see herself anywhere else. Now, Laura's back to see what Janice has been up to and what changes she's made to the villa, including the addition of a swimming pool! After a girly dip in the pool, Janice takes Laura for a stroll down the beach with her new partner and dog. Meanwhile, Sara Damergi catches up with Felicity in Coimbra in Portugal, after she and her then-husband Richard bought a challenging project in 2014. The nearby glorious countryside is dotted with towns and villages brimming with bars and restaurants, as well as affordable renovation projects. Felicity and Richard's search got off to a wobbly start after a semi-renovated property exposed their differing views, before a farmhouse took their fancy, and they had an offer accepted on it. Now, Sara's back to see how they're getting on, and while they're no longer together, Felicity's living there full-time and excited for her future. Sara checks out the incredible changes they've made before soaking up some culture at a local festival.
