The UnXplained Special Presentation — Season 1

For thousands of years, mankind has erected countless incredible buildings, but there are a select few that appear to be more than just impressive feats of engineering. Some structures may actually be imbued with incredible powers. Do incredible structures like the Men-an-Tol Monolith or the colossal Olmec heads somehow harness mystical powers beyond our comprehension?

How do some people live through the impossible? Whether it's surviving a plane crash in a remote jungle, nearly freezing to death in the wheel well of a trans-Atlantic flight, or being struck by lightning not once, but many times...do we have a hidden reserve of inexplicable energy locked away inside us that can be released when the situation calls for it? And what can we learn from these incredible survivors who evade and even defy death itself?

From holy constructions like Noah's Ark to objects of great mystery, like the cloth Jesus was said to be buried in, could the objects described in the Bible be real, and might they truly have a connection to God? From relics like the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail, to a tower that could touch heaven, is it possible to uncover the real history of these biblical artifacts and the possible powers that they possess?

History is full of incredible individuals who prove that seemingly ordinary people can accomplish what many of us would define as impossible. We are often astonished at what can be achieved by our fellow man--from feats so incredible they appear to be "magic", to extrasensory abilities like remote viewing or enduring extreme temperatures by using one's mind--the capabilities of these individuals continue to astound and amaze us. Which begs the question, how do people develop such extraordinary abilities?

Is our world home to mysterious, dark forces that we don't fully understand? Whether it's the eerie atmosphere of a mansion that's been visited by the dead, the tomb of an ancient warlord, or even a cursed painting--are many who believe that dark, powerful energies permeate our existence. But is this all just the stuff of myth and superstition? Or is it possible that evil really does lurk all around us?

Is it possible that other intelligent species exist in the universe?  If so, is there evidence of these extraterrestrials hiding in plain sight?  From UFO sigthings by the military, to strange structures on Mars, the evidence is mounting that we may not be alone.  But if extraterrestrials exist, what are their views toward humanity? And should we see them as friend...or foe?

Throughout recorded history, many people have claimed to be able to see the future and can predict, or even influence, events they first witness in their mind's eye. Is it possible that some of us really do possess the gift of foresight? From Renaissance predictors like Nostradamus who wrote of the death of kings and the rise of evil, to 20th century mystics like Rasputin who foresaw the fall of a dynasty, are some predictions more than lucky guesses and actually...real glimpses of the future?

Most disappearances can be explained by either foul play or bad luck. However, there are some cases that defy conventional wisdom. How can a modern jetliner simply drop off radar screens? And why do so many people go missing in the state of Alaska? What really happened to a famous explorer who disappeared deep in the jungles of the Amazon? Could there be strange forces behind these vanishings?

Throughout human history, cultures all over the world have produced unforgettable legends that have inspired people for centuries. Is it possible that ancient stories we consider to be fictional--legends, myths, and folklore--are actually fragments of a larger historical record that's been lost? Do some mythical stories have a basis in reality? And if so, which parts of the stories are fact...and which are fiction?

Throughout history, geniuses have had a profound impact on societies all over the world. From science, to music, to mathematics, their achievements have shaped the evolution of human civilization. But how does a person become a genius? Is it something they are born with? Or is it something that can be learned? And can more clues about geniuses be found by examining the brains of extraordinary thinkers...like Albert Einstein?

Uncovering ruins from the past has been integral to our understanding of ancient civilizations. But sometimes, what remains of these cultures raise more questions than answers. For instance, why did once-great empires such as the Maya or the thriving Khmer people at Angkor Wat suddenly vanish? And what secrets lie preserved under the ashes of the Roman city of Pompeii?

What makes the criminal mind tick? From elusive imposters disguised as foreign doctors or socialites, to dangerous killers--what drives certain people to deceive and execute outrageous and daring plots? And can we learn how some elaborate crimes, like the confounding murders of San Francisco's Zodiac Killer or an ingenious escape from Alcatraz, were set into motion and ultimately pulled off?

From the very founding of the United States, there have been many bizarre--and unsolved--mysteries that continue to capture our imagination. Did a divine encounter between George Washington and an angel influence a great victory in the American Revolution? What was the strange, green glow that seemed to heal wounded soldiers during the Civil War? And could America's most notorious assassin have led a double life... after death?

Humanity has long been fascinated with the galactic worlds beyond our planet. What mysteries are yet to be solved about the surface of the Moon? And what would happen to Earth if our lunar neighbor disappear? Do the impact craters and massive scar on Mars reveal a cataclysmic history on the barren Red Planet?

Are there monsters in our midst? Creatures who lurk in dense forests or fly over our largest cities? For centuries, monsters like Mothman, the Thunderbird, and Bigfoot have mystified witnesses, skeptics, and scientists alike. So, what can we learn from encounters reported around the globe with beasts we don't yet understand?

There are phenomena and undefinable events in our natural world that continue to pique our interest...and stoke our deepest fears.  Do the monstrously powerful earthquakes that bring civilizations to their knees have a human-involved origin? And how can a ball of energy--that passes through walls--be proven to exist, but without any answer to how it is created? Are strange accounts of fish falling from the sky or a seemingly endless darkness recorded in the 6th century evidence of events that could happen again?

Since the dawn of civilization, humanity has been fixated on predictions of the end times and our own demise. So, what can we learn to prevent existential threats to the survival of mankind? Will nuclear disasters similar to Chernobyl cause widespread destruction in the future? Or will it be a rampant disease like the Black Death that brings our entire civilization to its knees? Perhaps a massive tsunami will swallow entire regions, or a super volcano will rain fire and devastation throughout the globe. Can mankind avoid the end of days?

What else can we uncover from ancient sites? Are there hidden meanings or revelations we can bring to the surface that can change our understanding on how certain people lived, thrived...or disappeared? Who were the ancient civilization in Peru that built incredible structures at the time of the Pyramids of Egypt, and why do we know nothing about them? And what was the famous megalithic Stonehenge really built for: an astronomical device or sound influencing ritual mechanism?

For centuries, mankind has wondered what lies hidden in the depths of the Earth. For instance, what military secrets do underground bases like Area 51 and the Cheyenne Mountain Complex hold? And can discoveries in tunnels from the ancient past--like the Tayos Caves of Peru and the Longyou Caves of China--illuminate the cultures of lost civilizations? As humanity develops and digs further into the Earth, including the search for rare elements, what else will we uncover?

World War II was the largest and deadliest conflict in human history. From 1939 until 1945, more than fifty nations engaged in harrowing combat, and while the Axis Powers were eventually defeated, plenty of mysteries emerged from the rubble. For instance, is there an armored train filled with Nazi gold deep in the tunnels of a Polish castle? And how did one man survive not just one atomic bombing, but two? Is it possible that a strange presence roams the area of the deadly surprise attack on Pearl Harbor?

Deep within the recesses of the US government archives are secrets that will never see the light of day. But thanks to eyewitness encounters and devoted research many odd events are being uncovered...and re-examined. For instance, did the government hide the brain of President John F. Kennedy after his assassination? And did the US military experiment with time travel in the name of national defense? Is it possible that shadowy programs like Operation Paperclip and the Majestic 12 were designed to cover up UFO encounters?

The fascination with lost treasures has captured mankind's curiosity for centuries, and new evidence and research have led many across the globe in the quest for vast riches. Do the lucrative spoils of the legendary pirate Blackbeard lay buried on an island off the North Carolina coast? And can a lost cache of gold and silver ever be recovered from the deadly Superstition Mountains? Will we finally solve the Beale Cypher, and crack open the hidden vault revealing his hidden fortune?

Believers have researched texts and studied histories throughout centuries, not only to strengthen their faith, but to find deeper meanings and profound answers to existence itself. Can we separate what is fact from stories or fiction within religious manuscripts? Many believe in hidden relics–like the lost bones of Saints and the Temple Menorah–and ask if they have a certain divine power. Can we prove that the devastating plagues of Egypt and the miraculous parting of the Red Sea actually occurred?

Is the presence of evil real? While many believe that there is some darkness in our world, is it a malevolent being like the Devil? Or does it emanate from strange locations–like the Cecil Hotel–where murders and suicides have occurred for nearly 100 years? Perhaps evil is something that tempts humanity, or a feeling that invades us when we are fearful or confused. Is it possible that humans themselves draw dark entities and ghoulish presences out of hiding? Well, that is what we will try and find out.

Throughout human history, how we treat the dead has been as important as how we treat the living, and questions of both death and the afterlife have been at the heart of every known culture. Does how we die ? and how we're buried ? affect what happens to the soul? Is there another chapter or next plane of existence after we die? And can a human soul be reborn in another body?
