Øystein calls the police emergency phone and tells them that he is facing a man who threatens to kill him. The police think he is a drunk and don't take him seriously.
The American couple, Neil and Eryka, are to stay with Øystein as they explore Oslo in a few days. During a happy midday, the mood suddenly ends.
The case against Neil is dropped and charges are brought against Øystein. The parties' explanations are striking and contradictory. The police have overlooked traces of blood and destroyed important evidence.
While the anxiety and frustration in him continues to grow, there are strong doubts about what Øystein tells in the interrogation. The police early on put their faith in Neil and Eryka's explanations.
Øystein is struggling physically and mentally, and is applying for a reprieve and pardon. Neil's explanations in questioning turn out to be ambiguous and questionable.
