Before the TV series, earlier the same year, a feature length movie was released under the same name, Young Hercules. The story revolves around retrieving the golden fleece as Hercules (played by Ian Bohen) goes with his two trusty friends, Iolaus (a thief) and Jason (a young prince), and a girl he meets at the academy. Kevin Smith once again appears as Ares and tries to mess up Hercules' plans.It is worth mentioning that when young Hercules originally appeared in season 4 of "Hercules: The Legenday Journeys", he was always played as Ian Bohen, and the same actor played young Hercules in this prologue movie. In TV series Ryan Gosling took the role of young Hercules. Both actors who played Iolaus and Jason remained the same throughout all series and/or movies.
