Terry begins his adventure by traveling from Dublin, where he spent his teenage years, to Limerick, where he was born. Along the way he takes a look at a 'moving' statue of the Virgin Mary and experiences some bad weather on the Ring of Kerry.
Terry travels to the north of the island which is now quite literally a different country from what he remembers.
