A chambermaid confesses to the murder of the scion of a wealthy Toronto family, but there's a snag in what appears to be an open-and-shut case: with his last words, the victim referred to a mysterious man with a moustache.

A casual remark by Dr. Chisholm provides Inspector Cameron with the vital link to a chain of bizarre yet seemingly unrelated murders and convinces the Great Detective that his friend's life is very much in danger.
